How can I join?
It is fun and easy to join Pro Musica. All that is needed is a brief assessment by our conductor to see which ensemble to place you in. Placement assessments are by appointment or immediately following an Open Rehearsal in August or January.
- Fill out the assessment form below and we will contact you.
- Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page to see when and where we will be:
- Assessments– late Spring and early Fall.
- Day in our Village – Look for our booth. We will be there singing and answering questions.
- Open Rehearsals– First rehearsal in August and January.
Placement Assessment Appointment
Placement assessments are for our Primo Coro, Canterini, Harmonia and A Cappella ensembles. Singers do not need to prepare anything special for the assessment. It’s a simple process that is designed to put singers at ease, yet determines by tone quality, intonation (pitch matching), breath support, and tonal memory which ensemble which would best fit your child’s skill level.
All placement assessments will be held at First United Church of Oak Park, 848 Lake Street, Oak Park (enter through the north-east choral door off the church parking lot located off Kenilworth Avenue)
Placement assessments are easy-going and stress-free as possible. It’s a chance for your child to meet their conductor (parents are welcome to be present if your child chooses).
No need to prepare anything, just come with a great attitude and desire to sing. No previous experience required.
Children will be guided through singing scales, matching rhythms and pitch; advanced singers may be asked to sing a simple song and sight read.
Complete the form above and we will contact you.
The assessment is an opportunity for the conductor to listen to your child sing in a one-on-one setting. This will help ensure the best ‘fit’ for your child.
You will receive an email from the office with the conductor’s recommendation and your registration packet with tuition rates.
